Release Discriptions:

THE SHIVERING - Brand The Lion's Mouth 7"
Two more songs from this Rites of Spring influenced hardcore band out of Northern Californian. The Shivering are influenced by the Revolution Summer Discord era and the early '90s emo outburst. (Council Records #23)

CALVARY - The Will Of The Way 7"
Three more tracks from this emotive punk band. Calvary combines the passion of Current (Calvary's singer also sang for Current) with a punk rock sound ala Wire; the end result is a sort of late '70s punk woven together with the sort of vocal passion that came out of the early '90s emo scene. Good stuff. (Current Records #22)

THE SHIVERING - To The Ground 10"
Four more songs from this Rites of Spring influenced hardcore band out of Northern Californian. The songs are all long and well put together with an over all sound that draws from the Revolution Summer Discord era and the early '90s emo outburst. A nice record. (Council Records #21)

CALVARY - Outnumbered Is Outflanked LP
Calvary's singer, Matt Weeks, runs Council Records, sang for Current, and played in Ottawa. Calvary sounds very similar to Current with Matt's characteristically strong and passionate singing that is backed by catchy melodic hardcore punk. Calvary is a great band, and this debut LP is sure to become a classic just as the Current releases became classics back in the early '90s. Quite good. (Current Records #20)

YAPHET KOTTO - Usual Suspects 7"
Two brand new songs from this wondrous Northern Californian emotive hardcore band. Do you really need to know more? Melodic, powerful, and emotive greatness. (Council #19)

THE SHIVERING - Wiresofstormandsong 7"
Three songs from this new Northern Californian three piece. These songs have an energy that recalls the sort of early '90s emo that helped to define a genre. Honest, raw, and inspired, the Shivering offer up some powerful emotive hardcore. Very nice. (Council Records #18)

THE 26th - comp 7"
This great 7" comp came out in 1995 and quickly sold out. Council Records has unearthed some long lost copies. Featuring songs by Bev Clone, Constatine Sankathi, Nema, Wallside, and Mainspring. (Council #9)

NEW GRANADA - 7"
These five tracks are powerful and harsh sounding hardcore played with velocity and intensity. The vocals are delivered angry, passionate and emotional, while the music has a catchy underbelly that really helps to give these songs a lot of soul. Well done. (Council Records #16)

DEARBORN S.S. - 7"
Hailing from Dearborn, MI comes some extremely political hardcore. The sound is part crust, part Septic Death, and part old school hardcore, and it always comes off fierce and harsh. But above all it is content heavy and political. No mercy for the illiterate! (Lengua Armada/Council Records #15)

YAPHET KOTTO/SUICIDE NATION - split 7"
Yes, Yaphet Kotto and Suicide Nation together on one record. Who would have thought it! More great emotive hardcore from Yaphet Kotto; powerful and catchy, yet much uglier sounding than the material on their 12". Suicide Nation are still playing a million miles an hour thrash metal. Fast and M-E-A-N! What a crazy combo for a split 7"! (Council Records #14)
