Ebullition #16
Available on LPx2
CD version SOLD OUT!
In late 1991 I saw Still Life play their very first show. They blew me away. They were so powerful and intensely emotional. Immediately after the show I asked them to do an LP on Ebullition.
Still Life was once known as Monster Club. Believe it or not the singer of Strife was the singer for Monster Club. When he left the band they changed their name to Still Life. Many of the original Monster Club songs became Still Life songs.
Still Life was one of the best live bands I have ever seen. While other bands relied on raw hate or intense aggression, Still Life relied on pure emotion and honesty. Seeing them play live was a very emotional experience. It was very hardcore, and very real.
Still Life could hold their own playing with bands like Heroin, Downcast, Man Is The Bastard, or Born Against and yet their music was vastly different. They were an inspiration and a breath of fresh air. They helped to define emotive hardcore in the early '90s.
The original pressing of the Still Life double LP came with a fold out cover, as did the original pressing of the Downcast LP.
The newest and final pressing of this double LP comes in a standard LP jacket with a large booklet.
The CD version was a one time pressing of 1,000 copies. It is now sold out.
I saw Still Life play a live show in late 2003 and they were fantastic. I have to admit that their newest LP is not all that exciting, but their live show was simply awesome. It was apparent that they are still playing together because they are the best of friends. They have been playing together for over ten years.
